Professional Guardianship for the Elderly & Adult Advocacy

Guardianship is considered as a last resort when assessing an individual’s needs. It comes into play when the court determines that a person lacks the capacity or ability to manage their own affairs. Professional guardians are engaged for various reasons:

    1. When a vulnerable individual lacks a designated representative to address their evolving needs as they age.
    2. In cases where a person has suffered abuse, neglect, exploitation, or abandonment by someone they know – be it a stranger, family member, friend, or caregiver.
    3. When there is family conflict, and a decision is made to appoint a neutral party to act as the guardian.
    4. When a family member may be unable to provide care for their loved one due to their own illness, distance from their loved one, or other reasons.
All guardians are closely monitored by the Clerk of Courts in their respective Districts. They are required to submit annual accountings and care plans pertaining to the individual under their guardianship, ensuring transparency and accountability in their role as guardian.

In-Home Assessments and Care Planning

We offer professional medical and environmental evaluations specifically tailored for the elderly. Our objective is to create a comprehensive care plan that addresses the individual’s priorities and personal needs while ensuring a safe and healthy living environment. Depending on the circumstances, we provide recommendations for necessary modifications within the home to enable the client to continue living independently. In cases where placement in an alternative setting becomes necessary, we provide guidance on what to consider and look for when selecting a suitable location that meets the client’s specific aging needs.

Nursing Consultations

We foster a collaborative approach by working closely with a network of peers, physicians, specialty providers, and ancillary services to prioritize the safety and well-being of the elderly. Through an open communication model, we actively assist with various tasks, including accompanying clients to medical appointments, coordinating follow-up services as prescribed, and providing access to recommended resources. Our aim is to ensure that the elderly receive comprehensive and coordinated care, with all their needs addressed effectively and promptly.

Property Management

Our property management team offers a range of services to ensure proper maintenance of both real and personal property under our care. We conduct regular property checks, inspecting the perimeter and interior of homes on a monthly basis or as needed. We diligently schedule, monitor, and oversee routine maintenance tasks such as filter changes, lawn care, pool services, and the functionality of air conditioning and sprinkler systems. Additionally, we ensure that all properties are prepared for hurricane season. In the event that contractors are required, our team coordinates their services, ensuring that reputable, licensed, and bonded companies are hired to complete necessary repairs or installations.

Furthermore, our property management team assists with conducting home inventories for Family Guardians and Executives of Estates. We also provide support in the cleanout of personal belongings in homes and assist with estate sales. Our team demonstrates exceptional attention to detail while sorting through personal property.
